Tri City Finishes Strong with 3 Wins in 3 Days

What a way to finish.

The Tri City Tide wrapped up their inaugural season in The Basketball League with a statement — three wins in three days, including a road victory and back-to-back dominant performances at home. In a league as competitive and travel-heavy as the TBL, it was a rare and impressive feat.

After starting the season 5–12, Tri City closed the campaign with heart, toughness, and execution, finishing 8–12 and giving their fans a glimpse of what’s to come.

Game 1 – Tide 119, Halifax Hoopers 112 (Away)

Tri City opened the weekend with a gutsy road win in Halifax, putting together one of their most complete offensive performances of the year.

James Towns led the way with 27 points, orchestrating the offense and breaking down Halifax defenders with ease. De’monte Nelson added 18 points, providing timely scoring in both transition and the halfcourt.

Devon Andrews chipped in with a tough 17-point performance and active rebounding on the wing. Inside, Kyler Haynes and Rozelle Nix anchored the paint, while Christian Ndiaye gave valuable minutes defensively.

The team shot over 52% from the field, dished out 23 assists, and closed the game with poise, a sign of a group that’s grown together.

Game 2 – Tide 113, Tri-State Admirals 84 (Home)

Returning home, the Tide gave the Moncton crowd something to cheer about, and they didn’t disappoint.

Nelson stayed hot with 22 points on 64% shooting, while Kirvaris Myricks brought explosive energy off the bench, tallying 18 points and six assists. His downhill attacks and playmaking were crucial in extending the lead.

Doug Thomas was a force on the glass with 13 rebounds, and Mark McLaughlin added a steady 10 points, knocking down shots and helping set the tempo.

James French made his presence felt defensively and on the boards, contributing to a complete team effort.

Defensively, Tri City held the Admirals to just less than  20% from three-point range, forcing over 15 turnovers and dominating the rebounding battle.

Game 3 – Tide 103, Admirals 84 (Home)

Less than 24 hours later, the Tide suited up again, and once more delivered.

Kyler Haynes had a monster game with 30 points and 8 rebounds, attacking relentlessly and drawing contact inside. His ability to finish through traffic set the tone from the opening tip.

McLaughlin stayed sharp with 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting. Myricks added 7 points and 6 assists, while Doug Thomas posted another double-digit rebounding performance with 11 boards and 4 steals.

Devon Andrews returned with another steady outing, notching 10 points and contributing defensively. French added hustle plays and defensive stops, and Tre Roberts-Edwards was efficient in limited minutes.

Tri City led wire to wire and never let the Admirals threaten in the second half, closing the weekend , and the season, on a high note.

A Coaching Masterclass

Credit goes to Head Coach Rob Spon, whose experience and calm leadership helped guide the Tide through a rocky middle stretch. Over the last three games, his rotations were sharp, his defensive schemes airtight, and his team locked in.

Spon’s ability to build chemistry, develop talent, and maximize effort showed up when it mattered most.

Building Something Special

This run wasn’t just about the players on the court. It was about the front office, the game day staff, the volunteers, and most importantly — the fans.

Everyone behind the scenes played a role in creating a professional, passionate, and growing basketball community in Moncton. The support from the crowd over the final weekend was real, loud, and appreciated by every member of the team.

Final Thoughts

Tri City didn’t just finish strong, they made a statement.

They defended their home court. They found their identity. And they proved that this franchise isn’t here to participate, it’s here to compete.

From 5–12 to 8–12, the Tide closed the season on a 3-0 run. They showed fight, togetherness, and plenty of talent. With a strong core, a proven coach, and the unwavering support of the Moncton community, the future is bright.

The Tide is turning.
