ICYMI: Tri-City Tide Secure Four First-Round Picks at the 2026 TBL Draft

The Tri-City Tide entered the 2026 The Basketball League (TBL) Draft in Indianapolis with a single selection, the 7th overall pick. By the time draft night concluded, the Tide walked away with four first-round selections, reshaping their roster and setting the tone for an exciting season ahead.

Through a series of calculated trades and strategic decisions, Tri-City added impact talent, depth, and versatility, finishing the night with picks 7, 15, 29, and 37th overall in the First Round.

7th Overall Pick: Danquez Dawsey (Guard, Lamar University)

With the 7th overall selection, marking the first draft pick in franchise history, the Tri-City Tide selected Danquez Dawsey, a 6’2 guard out of Lamar University.

“First and foremost, I want to thank God for blessing me with this opportunity. This is just the beginning — I’m ready to get to work and compete with the Tri-City Tide.”

Dawsey brings experience and poise after competing at both the Division I and Division II levels. During the 2024–25 season at Lamar, he appeared in 33 games, averaging 6.2 points, 2.2 assists, and 1.8 rebounds, while shooting 38.7% from the field and 37.5% from three-point range. He reached double figures seven times, including a career-high 19-point performance at Southeastern Louisiana.

Prior to Lamar, Dawsey was a three-year contributor at Central Oklahoma, where he averaged 13.8 points and 5.0 assists during his junior season and earned Honorable Mention All-MIAA recognition.

15th Overall Pick – CJ Jamison Jr. (Guard, North Greenville)

The Tide made their first trade of the night, acquiring the 15th overall pick from the Lebanon Leprechauns in exchange for the 21st selection. With that pick, Tri-City selected CJ Jamison Jr., a 6’1 guard from North Greenville University.

“I’m excited to play for the Tide and for the upcoming season. You can expect a player who gives 100% every night and never gives up.”

Jamison Jr. was one of the most productive guards in NCAA Division II, averaging 15.9 points per game during the 2023–24 season while shooting 45.9% from the field, 41.8% from three, and 82% from the free-throw line. He set a program record with 33 points in a single game, grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds, and recorded six steals in another standout performance.

Known for his competitiveness and two-way play, Jamison Jr. adds scoring, defensive pressure, and leadership to the Tide backcourt.

29th Overall Pick: Kendall Latney (Guard, Emmanuel University)

In their second trade of the night, the Tide acquired the 29th overall pick from the DMV Soldiers and selected Kendall Latney, a 6’2 guard from Emmanuel University.

“I pride myself on being a team-first competitor who brings energy on both ends of the floor. I’m committed to doing whatever it takes to help this team win.”

Latney earned Second Team All-Conference (Conference Carolinas) honors after averaging 18.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game, while shooting an impressive 58.3% from the field, ranking among the top shooters in NCAA Division II.

His season included a 34-point outing, a 12-rebound game, and multiple high-energy performances that showcased his ability to impact games on both ends of the floor.

37th Overall Pick: Davante Robinson (Guard, North Park University)

With their final selection of the first round, the Tide chose Davante Robinson, a 6’2 guard from North Park University.

“I am extremely blessed and thankful for this opportunity. I’m looking forward to contributing to the culture and becoming part of the Moncton community on and off the floor.”

Robinson is a reliable two-way guard who brings efficiency and composure. During the 2023–24 season, he shot 38.4 percent from three-point range and 45.1 percent from the field, while tying for second on his team in made three-pointers. He showcased his scoring ability with a career-high 23 points and knocked down six threes in a single game, highlighting his value as a floor spacer.

Beyond scoring, Robinson’s defensive instincts and ball security stand out. He recorded multiple multi-steal games and demonstrated strong decision-making, including a game with six steals and only two turnovers earlier in his collegiate career. His versatility allows him to play on or off the ball, giving the Tide flexibility in guard rotations.

Looking Ahead

With draft night complete, attention now shifts to Training Camp, running February 17–19, where competition will be fierce. These newly drafted players will battle for roster spots alongside returning Tide players, making camp a critical step in shaping the final roster.

Training camp will be vital for establishing chemistry, intensity, and accountability as the team prepares for the upcoming season.

After entering draft weekend with just one pick, the Tide emerged with four first-round selections (7, 15, 29, and 37), a night that could define the future of the franchise.

The Tri-City Tide will officially open the 2026 season on the road before returning home for their highly anticipated Home Opener on February 28 against the Port City Power.
