Joining the Tide

Brandon Neel became the second official signing for the Tri-City Tide on November 16, 2024, bringing valuable experience and professionalism to the team. The 6’4″ shooting guard from Cincinnati, Ohio, came with an impressive track record at every level—high school, college, and professional.

Before joining Tri-City, Neel was one of Ohio’s top prep players, leading LaSalle High School to a state championship and earning Most Outstanding Player honors along with The Enquirer Division I Player of the Year award. His college career included South Plains College and Midwestern State, where he averaged 19 points and 6 rebounds per game and was twice named All-Conference.

Neel’s pro journey took him to the Moncton Magic (Canada), Neptune BC (Ireland), and Buras Guaymas (Mexico), where he averaged over 22 points per game. With a well-rounded game and international experience, he arrived ready to help build a new franchise.

Role on the Team

Throughout the 2025 season, Neel’s role centered on floor spacing and veteran presence. His ability to knock down the three-ball (37.8%) and play steady on both ends made him a valuable piece in Coach Rob Spon’s rotation. His shooting forced defenders to stay honest, opening lanes for teammates like Rozelle Nix, Kyler Haynes, and Doug Thomas to operate inside.

Brandon Neel proved to be a reliable scoring option and veteran presence throughout the 2025 campaign. His ability to knock down key shots and maintain composure in high-pressure moments made him a consistent threat on offense and a stabilizing force on the floor.

Notable outings included:

• 26 points on 60% shooting in a tough matchup on the road against the New York Phoenix on April 6th
• 23 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists in a strong showing against the Patroons in Albany on April 5th.
• 11 points and 5 rebounds while shooting 50% from three-point range vs. Halifax Hoopers on May 2nd.

Coach Rob Spon regularly leaned on Neel as a trusted veteran presence, both in practices and in games. His understanding of the game, work ethic, and communication helped guide younger players throughout the season, making him a leader by example on and off the court.

A Fan Favorite in Moncton

A familiar face to local basketball fans, Neel previously played for the Moncton Magic during the 2019–2020 NBLC season. His return to the region with the Tri-City Tide made him an instant fan favourite, and there’s hope among fans that he’ll be back in a Tide jersey again next season.
