New York Weekend Recap | Tough Road Losses & Lessons Learned
It was a challenging weekend on the road for the Tri City Tide, suffering back-to-back losses in the U.S.
First up, the Tide traveled to Albany where they fell 135–110 to the top-ranked Patroons. The offense showed flashes, but the team struggled to keep pace. In New York, things didn’t improve, with the Tide dropping a tough one to the Phoenix, 129–87.
Turnovers were a major factor in both games, with the Tide giving up possessions that quickly turned into points on the other end. Even more concerning was the lack of ball movement — assists were low, and the offense often stalled.
Once the lead got out to 15 or more, composure slipped and the team couldn’t regroup. Communication and play calling need to be sharper, especially against teams that thrive in transition.
The weekend did mark the debut of new additions Perry and Nix, and both showed potential. But overall, the Tide need to tighten up, especially on the defensive end and in transition. With players like De’monte Nelson, Kyler Haynes, and KirVaris Myricks, the team has the speed — now it’s about using it effectively to stretch the floor and dictate tempo.
Now, all eyes are on a critical early-week stretch. The Tide will face the Tri-State Admirals on Tuesday and Wednesday — both must-win games to bounce back and get back on track.
